Boo-hiss! Bina and I were looking forward to hanging out again... She's coming to lift-- I need you guys to help me fix her squat!

    10/21

    Squat - 45x10x2, 135x5, 225x5, 295x3, 345x2, 395x5x5
    Chins - BWx10, 8

Good session on Monday night. 395x5x5 ties my previous volume PR from my last meet prep cycle. It was definitely easier this time around. Going for 405 next week.

    10/22

    Bench - 45x10x2, 135x5, 185x3, 225x2, 255x1, 290x5x5
    Press - 45x5, 95x5, 135x3, 165x1, 187.5x5x3

Good training session. 290x5x5 is a volume PR on the bench. Presses were better than last week too.

Thanks, Niki. I am hoping to get to 300 for 5x5 by the end of this cycle which would be nice, but I won't be able to die a happy man until I can get 315 for 5x5 which is still a ways off. Also, I have been following your log. Some serious gainz going on over there. Nice job.

Thanks, Mac. So far, I have been healthy (knock on wood). I won't be happy with my 5x5 squat until I can get 405. Hopefully that happens this coming week. I am really happy to see you doing so well coming back from your injury. Getting your deadlift back up to 500 just a few short months after a serious injury is a huge accomplishment. Awesome job.

The numbers being thrown around here are as unimaginable to me as the balance in a millionaire's bank account.

I hope so, Dwayne. 405x5x5 has been my nemesis. I have done it for three sets of five, and eight sets of three, but never 5x5. Hopefully Monday is the day!

HA! This cracked me up, Staci. I don't really know how to respond to that other than to say their are plenty of guys on here way stronger than me. I hope you and the baby (Freddie Prinze III perhaps?) are doing well!

    10/25

    Squat - 45x10x2, 135x5, 225x5, 315x3, 365x2, 425x1, 485x1x5
    Bench - 45x5, 135x5, 225x3, 295x1, 330x1x5

Tonight was a bad night. My training has been going so well lately, that I should have figured I was due for a bump in the road. Overall, squats went well. My bar speed is definitely slowing down, but 485 is the heaviest weight I have ever handled in training. On my third single I tweaked my back during the ascent. I was holding the correct position, but it feels like I irritated a facet joint in my lumbar spine. I didn't think much of it at first, I even finished my last two singles without much discomfort. I definitely felt it on the bench, but I actually smoked all of my paused singles with 330 which is my previous meet PR. The frustrating part was once I started to warm-up my deadlifts I could really feel the discomfort. I warmed-up to 495 for a single, and Nick told me to call it there for the night, but I wanted to at least try to pull my scheduled 565. No go. Didn't even budge. I think this was primarily me just protecting myself because I knew something was off, but it is frustrating after pulling 555x3 last week and being just a few weeks out from a meet. I have started up with ibuprofen. Hopefully this is no big deal, we will just have to wait and see. I am really disappointed to not get my deadlifts though.

Here is my last single with 485 on the squat:

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

    Form looks great on squats.

You made the right call on the deads. Let it calm down and next week will go well.

I woke up this morning with a back tweak. I didn't even train yesterday. But I'm also going to ibuprofen it up this weekend and get some good sleep and recovery. Next week should be fine.

It's the homestretch. There's a line between intensification and pushing a lil too hard that we have to walk. You did the right thing and you and Nick made the right call.

    I'm glad ur ok.
