    Squat: 185 kg x 5 x 5
    Bench press: 110 kg x 5 x 5
    Press: 62.5 kg x 5 x 1

Easy weights on that first day. Want to hit PRs in the squat and halting deadlift in week 5. Presses and bench presses will move a little slower than that since they are only done heavy every other week. Taking my time during those first weeks to gain some momentum and hopefully have a long and productive progression ahead of me.

    Powersnatch: up to 105 kg
    Snatch: up to 110 kg
Powerclean: up to 132.5 kg (PR)
    Front-squat: 160 kg x 2

Even a moderate 5x5 weight will produce DOMS the next day if you are not used to it. I was certainly not used to it. In the gym things improved a bit and the soreness did not hinder me too much.
Since Nick D'Agostino powersnatches more than I can full snatch I got curious how far behind I am. So I gave the powersnatch a try after a long time of relinquishment. Turns out I am quite behind, but 105 kg powersnatch the day after a 5x5 squat work-out is not too bad either. Was happy with that.
Not much time for snatches left, so I worked up to 110 kg, made it, but it was not pretty. Warmed up for clean & jerks and was informed that the gym is closing right now. So it was go home or train somewhere else. I did train somewhere else, but heavy clean & jerks were out of the question since this place has no bumpers. Decided to at least try a PR in the powerclean and got one at 132.5 kg with a bent bar that does not spin at all and has no knurling left. I am fine with that. Did not have much time for front-squats so I only did a double at 160. Will do more next week.

Have you ever thought about using a more "normal" start position in order to get your lifts to a more normal proportion relative to your squat?

Please explain normal in both circumstances. And please explain to me why I should care about a proportion.
