I've put off starting a log here cause I've always been too lazy to update logs I've started elsewhere, but I've enjoyed looking at the other logs in this section so that should keep me motivated to continue posting.

About me: I'm currently a grad student so it's often hard to find time to train. I did a meet back in the fall of 2009, about 1 year since I started lifting, and went 320/215/415 = 950lbs @ 190lbs. My training has been fairly inconsistent throughout the past few years due to school but I've been on a pretty consistent schedule for the past year and a half and am looking forward to getting back on the platform.

I am currently planning to compete at the USAPL CO state games in late July in the 110kg class.

    Some stats:

    6' 1", 230lbs, 23yrs. Planning to slowly move up to ~245. Weighed 150lbs at 6' 1" before I started lifting.

    Squat: 420lbs
    Bench: 315lbs
    Deadlift: 500lbs
    Press: 185lbs
    P Clean: 206lbs
    Chins: 3x5x55lbs at 225lbs BW

Would like to go 450+/320/530 = 1300 total in July. I'm currently rehabbing a hip injury so my squat is down quite a bit. Hoping to hit 405x5 in a few months.

Short term goals are to squat 375x5, my old PR before injury, bench 335x1 (touch-n-go), deadlift 205kgx5, and get my shitty, stuck press moving up.

I'm currently running something like the Texas Method but with less squat volume in light of my hip.

Last thing: the name "elVarouza" has nothing to do with anything, I just completely made it up. :-)

Awesome weights, I'm also 6'1 and BW is 225-230.
We are almost exactly the same on the lifts, you are a bit before me considering upper body strength(Bench, chins- can only manage 45), but I am ahead of you on the other lifts(PC, DL, SQ)
Also looking to enter a RAW contest next month after rehabbing my shoulder(managed 135 for reps which is great, hoping to bench 180 for reps next week and keep the 40 lb gain till I reach my 280-300 for the meet)

I'll follow this log carefully ^^
Good luck preparing for the meet

Hey, thanks for checking out my log. I've seen some of your threads about programming and I remember us being very similar in terms of programming and lifts. You're also doing a Texas Method variant if I recall correctly.

Oh yeah, you had that problem with your shoulder rolling forward that you asked Rip about, right? Man that's too bad, I hope it's better in time for your meet. If you're ever interested in starting a log here I'd definitely be interested in following your progress. What are your squat and DL at?

I'll be omitting most of the warmups.

    20130228

    Squat:

    325x1
    325x1
    355x2

Wanted to do a set of 5 at 355 after getting 345x5 last week but my hip felt terrible so I stopped at 2. Really pissed about it.

    Press:

    135x3
    165x1
    190x1 (PR)
    165x1

The 190 was pretty fucking hard, it was stuck at my forehead for 2-3 seconds. If I wasn't so pissed about squats I would've given it up there. Wanted to do a backoff set of 165x5 but had no gas left in the tank.

    Deadlift:

    150kgx2
    190kgx1
    210kgx1

Stopped here to give my low back some much-needed recovery after the past couple of weeks.

    Machine curls:
    110x5
    130x5

Stopped here to give my arms some much-needed recovery as well.

I've been feeling really beat up this week and will probably only do one set of squats on Sunday instead of three to give my hip some time to recover.

Felt much better today than on Thursday. Hip wasn't as tight and upper body felt pretty good too.

    Squat:

    325x1
    355x5

    Bench:

    272.5x5x5 (PR)

    Cable stack curls:

    130x10
    130x10
    140x10

Thanks for commenting! I'm really looking forward to moving up to 275 for 5x5 on my bench.

    20130305 Tuesday. Light day.

    Press:

    135x5
    135x5
    165x1 no wraps, no belt
    185x1 wraps, belt

5lbs off my PR, pretty good for a light day. Felt pretty easy. I think I got some bounce into the bar unracking it.

    Chins:

    BWx2
    30x1
    55x5
    55x5
    55x4

You will be there soon enough (just 2.5lbs!). Nice work on the "light" press day, where you pressed 5lbs less than your PR! :-) I think you did an AdamW light day there.

Haha, I was actually thinking about that and his crazy layback.
