    Sorry allbodies. I took off last week for a somewhat impromptu trip up to NYC to visit my sister, and then she sort of spontaneously followed me back to DC for the 4th. She ended up joining me and Big L for the concerts and fireworks at the National Mall which was kind of fun. Got good seats on the lawn this time, as opposed to last year when I didn't know better and ended up pinned against one of the pillars of the Lincoln Memorial. Did Lyudmila drink too much Dos Equis and embarrass herself a little in front of my sister? Yes. "Welcome to cuatro equis!" It's fine.

    Choice quotes from my sister later:
    "LOLOL you do realize she's just a younger Russian version of mom, right? Loud, obnoxious, kind of entitled, probably the kind that gets off on emasculating her husband in front of the kids? Jesus Christ! Freud is fucking Oedipus up the ass right now and they're both crying out your name, you sick fuck."
    "Uh did she really down four slices of pizza in the time it took you to eat two and me one???"
    "Wait, you don't know what she looks like naked? WTF. It looks like you guys are basically married. Shit. Uh, tits? Do you at least know what her tits look like? No? Shit to tell mom or not tell mom..."

    Anyway all this didn't leave time for training or internetting, it's fine. Unrelated: Lil L decided to take the rest of the week off and is now on some sort of solo vision quest driving through the hills of West Virginia. Just got a text from her about how she had to take a piss on the side of the road. I asked for pics, got no response. Maybe those guys from Deliverance got her or something.

    Yesterday I did:

    Coach adjusted my 1st pull a bit to set up a better power position, which helped.

    Today I did:

    I tried 124 after this but rushed the clean and missed it. Wanted to do it again figuring I could adjust but coach cut me off since the comp is next week and now is a bad time to tweak a wrist.

    At this point, I think I would have to feel a little sorry for those guys.. But hey, wow, great new addition to the cast with the sister. Any chance she'll have a recurring role?

    Thanks. I'd say there's a reasonable chance at 105 depending on how I feel that day, but 130 is probably going to take the same magic Steiner had in 2008. To complicate matters slightly, I must have caught a bug on the 4th: thousands of sweaty people from all over the country mushed togehter onto one lawn? What could go wrong, right? Hopefully it's just a mild headcold that will resolve in a day or three. Tried to train yesterday but instead of maxing out again, I did:

    50x3
    60x3
    70x2
    80x1
    85x1
    and called it

    Woke up today feeling not much better and decided to scrap it entirely and try again tomorrow.

    Uuuugh we did openers today but I was not feeling 100%. DayQuil + lots of caffeine made me feel symptom-free and actually a bit stronger than normal, but kind of jittery and loopy at the same time.

    Snatch:

    The 91 flew up but I started feeling kind of bad immediately after I did it. 94 felt heavy the first time and I panicked, rushed it, and threw it over my head. On the 2nd time I stayed calm but coach gave me some side-eye for a soft left elbow.

    I tried a different kind of athletic tape and it flew off on me causing me to miss the 1st clean at 110. Got it the 2nd time.

    Openers are tentatively set at 92/107, but coach thinks if I rebound from this cold over the week and warm up strong on Saturday we'll go ahead with 95/110 and shoot for a 105/125 total.


    For those of you wondering, Lil L has been around but in a terrible mood for the past week for reasons I don't know, probably because I'm an inept Spergy fuck. Will worry about that after Saturday.

    Light day today, which ended up being annoying anyway because the air was like fetid soup, and that was double for inside the actual gym, a dusty one room mess crammed with Type-A Washingtonians. Ugh...

    Should have been 4 singles at 75 but I just wanted to get it over with.

    These were surprisingly hard due to the weather and one made me pretty lightheaded but that was the end of the training cycle anyway except for:

    WEEK 12 DAY 4:
    Snatch: 1RM
    Clean and jerk: 1RM

    So.....see you all on the flip side.
