    12/23/13 Deadlifts

Today is Christmas Movie Day in our house. While my kids watched Charlie Brown complaining about the creeping commercialism of the holiday, I did this:

    Deadlift: 295x5x4, 273x5x2
    Chinups: 25 total.

Music: Kelly Clarkson's new Christmas album.

    12/24/13 Pressing

Press: 169x5x2, 156x5x2, 104x12x3, 104x8x2. Traps are so full of blood now they hurt. I kept it to about two minutes between sets.

    Music: Slayer, Disturbed

    12/26/13 Volume Week 2

It's only been 6 days, but I feel great. I also got Tuscherer's Reactive Training Manual for Christmas, so I did a bit of self-regulating and worked out a day earlier.

Squat: 334x5x4, 309x5x2, 206x12x3, 206x8x2. About two to three minutes between work sets. This felt much easier than last week, so I am either stronger, better conditioned, or both. I plan to go at least one more week, maybe two, on volume accumulation.

Music: no music. I watched Longmire, Season 1 Episode 1 again. It's like a detective show starring Rip, Stef as Vic, his plucky deputy, and Tom Campitelli as the Ferg.

    12/27/13 Benchapalooza

    Volume 2 on bench press.

Bench: 266x5x4, 246x5x2. Assistance close grip: 150x12x3, 150x8x2. Got my swole on.

Last week my wrist was sore after close-grips, so I widened it considerably. They are about 3 inches closer on each hand than my regular grip.

Music: Longmire #2. I like this show.

    12/29/13 Deadlift Volumizing 2

Headache. Hate headaches. But, if I don't lift, I'll still have a headache.

Deadlift: 295x5x4, 273x5x2. Don't mock my pitiful deadlift--I'm working on it!

Presses during Bears-Packers later. I expect the Bears to lose by a million points.

    starting strength coach development program
    Hey Karl,

I ran a couple of blocks that Jordan gave me... He had me increasing intensity each week of accumulation, but i see you are doing the same intensity week 1 & 2. Are all of Frey's accumulation blocks like that?

I can't really offer "advice" on block length, but can share what Jordan was directing me towards which was 3 weeks per block followed by a week deload. But only 1 accumulation block and then we were planning on multiple transmutation blocks in a row (with deloads) and then down the road, probably a shorter Peaking block. I say planned because I had two injuries in a span of 10 days so the future blocks went out the window and I went into rehab and off-season mode. I'm planning to get return to the program in about 2 weeks...

Good luck with the new approach, look forward to following your progress.
