    5/29/14 Bench Priority

I did another mock meet. This is the last intensity week before contest taper, although there's a half-week of slop because I train Wednesday-Sunday, and the meet's on a Sunday. Just trying to get a sense of where my strength is.

Bench: 385x1, 415x1, 430x0. It almost went, but right at the sticking point, my daughter opened the door to the garage to tell me something. She picked the perfect moment to mess with the lift. It's kind of funny. I'd like to get 420ish at the meet. 375x3@10, 375x2x2 @9-10.

    Press: 225x3x3@9-10.

Thinking about the bench press: I've been doing the straight RTS program, but I think I might need to add some fatigue percentage work to it, to drive adaptation. Deadlift and Squat still seem to be progressing, but since I only work the lifts twice a week, I can probably afford some overload there too. After the meet.

    5/31/14 FRAKKING DEADLIFT!

    Deadlift priority, heavy singles.

    Deadlift: 495x1, felt like a 9. 525x0. Crap. 525x0. Crap. 495x1x2@10. Perhaps I have some residual fatigue?

Squat: Triples at 9. 445x3x4. These went ok, so my self-esteem recovered.

I will finish up press tomorrow, then do one last intense squat day on Wednesday, some benching on Thursday, then work up to openers (or second attempts) on Sunday. Then, contest taper. Hope I don't screw it up.

6/1/14 This was a good day.

Press, futhermucker!: worked up to 270x1 PR!!!!!!

Sorry about the video. I wasn't expecting it to go, and so didn't set up the tripod. You can see the scapula rotate into lockout.

    Bench: heavy singles. 365x1, 405x1x2, 385x1x3.

Damn. That press is approaching my max bench press. Once again, impressive work. Congrats.
