I haven't been keeping up on logging but I have been training.

Less than ten weeks out from the meet. I haven't hit a squat PR since 2015. It's time I hit a new one.

    1. Sumo deadlift:

    405 x 1 @6
    430 x 1 @7
    455 x 1 @8
    370 x 5 x 9

    E1RM: 493.5 (+5.5)

I'm learning to keep tight and stay patient off the floor. I've missed too many pulls because I rushed and my back unlocked.

    2. Pin press (mid-range):

    290 x 1 @6
    305 x 1 @7
    320 x 1 @8
305 x 3 @9 (Oops. Misload. Wrong number of reps.)
    250 x 4@6.5
    250 x 4 @6.5
    250 x 4 @7

    E1RM: 348 (+5.5)

    3. Front squat:

    190 x 4 @6
    205 x 4 @7
    220 x 4 @8
    220 x 4 @8
    220 x 4 @8
    220 x 4 @8
    220 x 4 @9

Some heavy volume this week. I'm trying to keep a positive attitude and leave the gym with a spring in my step, rather than grunting and groaning as I flop into my car. It might be my imagination, but I seem to recover better if I tell myself, "Good workout. That wasn't so bad," instead of "Ugh, I'm so sore and tired. I want to go to bed."

It's all in your head, but that doesn't mean it's not real. (- Albus Dumbledore, paraphrased)

I admit I'm not up on my Harry Potter. . .

You're right, but sometimes it's in your head and it's not real!

    1. Squat w/belt and wraps:

    430 x 1 @6
    455 x 1 @7
    480 x 1 @8
    450 x 4 @8.5
    385 x 4 @6.5
    385 x 4 @6.5
    385 x 4 @7

    E1RM: 522 (+22)

I'm getting good at putting those wraps on tight. It's kind of fun springing out of the hole so fast. Not as fun losing so much leg hair.

    2. TnG bench:

    280 x 1 @6
    295 x 1 @7
    310 x 1 @8
    250 x 5 x 9

    E1RM: 337 (+5.5)

    3. Push press:

    80 x 10 @5
    95 x 10 @6.5 (mis-load, but I went with it)
    105 x 10 @8
    105 x 10 x 4

The meet I'm doing is allowing wraps (despite saying USAPL raw rules ... ?), so I'm planning on ordering a pair. Any suggestions? I'm looking at SBD's 2 meter training wraps, since I like their wrist wraps.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about wraps. I use a pair of Inzer black and red, two-meter wraps. They work well for me.

I was feeling a bit under the weather yesterday, but I decided to try to train.

    1. Squat:

    405 x 1 @6
    430 x 1 @7
    450 x 1 @8
    370 x 5 x 6

    E1RM: 489 (+5.5)

Very pleased with my squat technique. I've been working on staying over mid-foot.

    2. Competition bench:

    285 x 1 @6
    300 x 1 @7
    315 x 1 @9
    295 x 1 @9

    E1RM: 328 (-9)

I started feeling faint when setting up to bench and my strength suddenly dropped off. Good time to go home and rest, I thought.
