The press is the manliest and most alpha movement that can be done in the weight room, but it's a waste to bench and press in a 1:1 ratio for powerlifting.
I agree. When my shoulder's healthy, I'll be benching in a 2:1 benchress ratio. In the meantime, I'm treating the press as a competitive lift.

Goodbye TM. First day of new RTS-inspired cycle

    Squat: 365x3@7, 385x3@7, 405x3@7.5, 405x3@8, 405x3@9

    Press 2.0: 155x5, 185x2, 205x2@7, 215x2@8, 215x2@9

Hmm. 2.0 is weird. One little form glitch and a potentially easy rep becomes a grind. Going to treat these like oly lifts in terms of rep selection.

    Press Starts: 225x2, 245x2, 265x2, 265x2

Got the idea for these from a Bill Starr article. It's basically just a partial ROM overload...from delts to just clearing the forehead. No clue how to judge RPE on these.

    Pullover: 110x10x3

    Snatch Grip Deads: 315x4, 365x4@6, 395x4@7, 405x4@7, 405x4@7, 415x4@7, 415x4@7.5

New movement, so went conservative. Back really locked well on all reps. This is a good unfucking movement for me. Used straps on last 3 sets (will use straps for all on these going forward). Thumb/index finger on snatch ring.

Late edit: holy shit am I sore. Ass & hamstrings just smoked. I'm waddling: the joy!

    DB Bench: 70x8x3

Got to get imaging of the shoulder. It's just not improving.

    Front Squat: 245x3x5

    12 mins on these. C

It's only been 2 workouts, but the new program feels right.

If it bombs, look for a 3rd log: Hanley's quest to be a pretty ballerina.

Don't bomb, but this would be pretty incredible.

I squat to Prokofiev, so the transition might be smoother than one might think.

    Squats with wraps: 365x4, 405x4@7 415x4@8, 415x4@8, 415x4@9

New to wraps. RPEs all weird with these. What felt like 9 looks like 6-7 on film.

    I called these a 9: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbNkvFHgGBY&sns=em

These are some ugly squats. Jesus.

    Therapy DB Bench: 55xlotsxlots

    Therapy Press: 135xlotsxlots

Also: my right bicep measured 18" today. I can die happy.

Seriously!? I'm going to try that. In fact next time the guys let me pick the music, it's going playing.

Yup. Thundering orchestral music for days when I need external motivation.

Brian Eno's Music for Airports for focusing on technique.
