Those 5x5s get grindy around the 4th set, but you will squat 400+ in August.
Then you can take a little break for more Jiu Jitsu and ukulele'ing.

I think I could squat 400+ for a single now. Gonna blow it out of the water on 8/2. But yeah, I can re-focus on jiu jitsu after the USAPL gives me my damn trophy, and work a less difficult-to-recover-from progression so that I can focus on my Jits, while continuing to add weight to the bar and my overly small frame on a more gradual basis. See you Saturday (at BIL, I'll see you at work tomorrow, obvi). We'll see if my time with Dr. Petrizzo & Mr. D'Agostino have equipped me with the skill to help you learn the power clean.

    6/14/14:
    Power cleans: 125 x 3 x 5. Didn't jump early.
    Light squats: 295 x 3 x 5
    Press:
147.5 x 4 4th rep was super grindy, got stuck 3/4th of the way up on the 5th rep attempt.
    147.5 x 4. Because angry.
Dips: + 75 x 11 (lil fatigue remained from presses)

Now off to stuff my face full of delicious breakfasty goodness!

    6/16/14:

    Intensity Squat: 370 x 4 (f)
    370 x 2

Switching intensity day to 2 x 3 for now. Would have done 4,3, but the attempt at the fifth smoked me.

    Volume Press: 135 x 5 x 5

Uneventful except my left elbow is still bugging me.

    Deadlift in shoes: 415 x 3 x 2

    Curls (for the elbow): 65 x 10

Probably down a couple pounds, to the lower 150's. Afraid to get on the scale.

You must have been slacking on eating this weekend. You'll have no problem doing triples at 375 next week.
Nice job on volume press today.

Thanks, bro. I had good yelling. Let's hope triples take me past 400!

I was looking at your log and thinking, "hey, those are relatively close to my numbers…maybe I am somewhat legit." Then I saw that I outweigh you by >75# and thought, "holy F@#$ that's impressive!" Very nice lifting.

    Volume Squats: 335 x 5 x 5. These are getting hellish.
    Bench sixes: 200 x 6 x 4.
Chin-ups: AMRAP in 7: 72. Really not sure how I got 78 last time.

    looking good, man!

Do you think that you might be going too heavy on the light day and it is interfering w/ your intensity day? 295 is almost 2 X bodyweight for you (and your doing 3 sets!).... I barely squat body weight on my light day and I only do 2 sets.... this past Wed. my light day I left the gym feeling great--- like it was a recovery day. Of course, I am older than you so I need more recovery.

    just thinking....
