Bench press - 245-5, 275-2, 295-1, 305-1, 315-1, 325-1, 335-1, Totally off the program with the bench. I was supposed to do 245-10, 265-8, 275-8, but my shoulder let me know that if I repped out a high number I would regret it. So I did a few heavy singles... The Candito program is too much bench volume for this older lifter on the second time through.

BB Rows - 245-5,5,5 No issues here, adding weight every workout

Presses - 195-5,5,5 - Was supposed to rep out 12, 10, 8, at a lighter weight but went heavier and did 5's.

Chins - +25lbs - OH-6, UH-7 stopped at one set each hand position. It's been a long week at work and lifting... Looking forward to a relaxing weekend and catch up on some sleep

Hello Marc. Your numbers/weight/age are actually very close to my own. I'll be keeping a watch on your log to see how you progress. I would never go near those tens and eights myself either; I know that I can't take that kind of volume at any serious weight, and I'm "only" 48.

Thanks BBuszard, I've been checking out your log too!

This will be my last time through the Candito program mostly due to the volume that is required. I will say it is bringing my squat up significantly though. My estimated 1RM is getting over 475, and hopefully I can do something close to that in my upcoming January meet. Once the meet is over I'll take a couple weeks off to heal and then I will start on "Dr. Squat's" program. Dr. Squat's 80 day program He set world records in his mid 40's so this program is a little more geared to an older lifter.

Bench - was supposed to do 265-max reps. Did 6 until the onset of pain in my shoulder. Then did a couple of holds at 415, and then a couple of eccentrics lowering 365 down to my chest and getting my spotter son to help me lift it back up. Basically gym foolery screwing around. Next Wednesday the reps drop and the intensity goes up so that's a good thing!

    Cable rows - 270 - 10, 15 - change of pace for rows

Presses - Did some push presses - 225-1, 245-1, 265-1, 275- F,F, - Wasn't quite able to lock out the 275 but came close. Did a slow eccentric back down to my chest on all.

    Chins - bw - 10, 10, - Did one set each grip.

As I left for work early this morning I slipped on the ice and almost did the splits sideways. Had a bag in one hand and a coffee in the other so my legs splitting slowed my descent just before my jewels hit the ground. My R hip and groin still ache...

Squat - 400 - 4,4,4 - Program called for 4-6 reps. I did the minimum. Had issues with going too deep, losing my balance forward a bit, and then doing paused squats on the last couple of reps. My sore groin and hip didn't help things. Some days I'm all over the place. I've never had any coaching but sure could use some...

Deadlift - 475 - 3,4, - Program called for 3-6 reps. Somewhat gassed after the squats. First rep seemed to be the hardest. Did two exercises and took 1.5 hours...

Bench - 285-4, 295-3,3, 305-2,3, - Program called for 285 for 4-6 reps. I'm trying to stay out of the "pain" zone where I can start to feel my anterior deltoid hurting. It started on the 4th rep of 285 so I figured I keep going up in weight and see what happens... I'm doing band pull aparts, face pulls, supine grip front raises, etc. to work/stretch my deltoid and it does seem to help a little. I probably need a week or two off, but that will have to wait until after the meet.

DB Rows - 85-10, 15, 15 - These felt good on my shoulders...

Presses - 200-5,5, - Stopped at two sets as the workout was dragging on too long. These went up easy no with issues from my shoulders. I wish presses were in the IPF instead of bench.

    Chins - 25lbs - OH - 7, UH - 8

Squat - 405-5, - Program called for 1 set of 4-6 reps at 405. Tried my Sabo Goodlift flats instead of my heeled shoes. They felt good and I had no issues hitting depth. The high tops are quite supportive. I think I'll go with these for now.

1.5" Deficit Deadlift - 405-8, - No issues, felt great!

Bench - 295-4,5,4 - Tried a narrower grip, about 1 inch from my pinkie to the 1st set of rings. Felt it a little in my shoulder on the last rep of each set and shut down before it developed into pain. Could have done another rep or two on each set. Still the narrower grip seems to bother my shoulder less with only a small reduction in strength.

DB Rows - 85- 10,15,15 - Did these for speed as when the weight drops and reverses direction at the bottom it has the effect of stretching my shoulder which makes it feel better.

Presses - 205-3,4,4, - Had to do these with little rest as I was in a hurry. Company Christmas party tonight...

Chins - skipped due to lateness.

Squats - 415-3, 420-3, 425-3, - Wasn't feeling particularly energetic today. The last set of 425 was a little tough. Sorry about the camera angle as my lovely 12 year old daughter got the post in the way.

Deficit Deadlift - 425-4,6, - Gave myself a little more rest for the second set.

Bench - 290-3, 300-3, 305-3, - Took a narrow grip again and lowered bar to just below the nipples. No shoulder issues. had a couple reps in the tank each set. Last rep each set was a 2 second pause

DB Row - 85-12,15,10 - Feels good on the shoulders. I need heavier dumbbells...

Press - worked up to a 245-1. Had to cheat a bit to get it up.

    Chins with 35lbs - OH-5,5, UH-5,5
