I haven't gotten any stronger over the past few years despite training hard. I'm sure age has something to do with it as I'm turning 60 soon. So yes, I am trying something new and am doing a Westside conjugate style of training. I'm not sure if it will make me any stronger, and in fact may make me weaker. We'll see what happens at my meet in February.

One thing I do like is that there is a lot of variety that makes the workouts interesting. In addition, it reduces "mileage" on the joints since you aren't doing the same exercises over and over.

I competed over the years doing different forms of training. I never ran a pure system. I always adapt it. I am running conjugate now but adapting it to what I think and feel will work for me. I am much more intuitive as I have gotten older. I hear this debate over Westside often over the years.

I am sure age plays a role no matter what form of training we do. For me its a matter of knowing what I need. My joints can no longer handle the type of training I did when I last competed in 2016.

I like your log and will follow with interest.

    starting strength coach development program
    Warm up - 500M row

    Workout specific warm up circuit:
DB bench press - 35-25,25,25,25, varied hand angle each set
Chest supported incline DB row - 40-20,20,20,20, each arm
Side laying tricep extension - 15-25,25,25,25 - first time doing these

Paused Floor press (lowered in a tempo fashion, up explosively) - first time doing these as well.
243-5,5,5,5,5,5,5, - These seem useful for building strength off the bottom of the bench. Similar to box squats

    Accessory circuit:
Tempo chinups - 7,7, - used a light band for assistance - still only managed 7 where I can do at least 10 normal pullups anytime.
Band tricep press down - heavy purple band -12,12,
    DB lat raises - 10-15,15,
