    Thanks guys appreciate that!

Just did a light and quick workout this morning. Worked up to a 265 bench for a triple, and a 330 squat for a single. I didn't want to increase any fatigue but still wanted to feel the weights one last time before the meet. I'm actually lifting Sunday evening north american time although it will be Monday in Asia. Should be on the Asian powerlifting federation live stream. Now leaving for the airport...

Competition results from today - IPF World's Masters 3 105kg weight class in Mongolia - I had 5 competitors in my weight class - US, UK, Kazakstan, Czech republic, and another Canadian besides me.

Wasn't my best day, but I got silver for total! Not too bad for being jet lagged, sleep deprived and sick.

Squats - opened with 210, went well, 2nd lift was 220 which went a bit slower, last lift was 225 where I got 1 red light for depth. Good lift, right? - hang on, the jury over ruled the judges and red lighted me - What's up with that?

Bench - Opened with 162.5 - this was a struggle for a bench I can easily do normally. Got 1 red for something, tried 165 and no go. Didn't try for a third.

Deadlift - Because my day wasn't going anywhere near as planned, and I lost confidence in my lifting since i was sick and struggling, I opened light at 220. It actually went pretty fast, but I got dizzy and almost passed out walking back to the waiting room. 2nd attempt was 230 which again went fast but again I got super dizzy. Despite the dizzyness the deadlifts were going well, and i wanted to go heavier but the Canadian coach put me down for 237.5. This again went fast like an opener. I probably had another 10+ kg in me, but i can't question the coach's decision since I was telling him how I felt (dizzy and sick). He also wanted to lock me into the silver medal.

Total - totalled 620kg/1364lbs. The Czech fellow who won gold beat me by 2.5kg. I cant complain - all lifters were probably experiencing the same issues as me. I got silver for total, bronze for squat and bench since they award prizes for each lift as well as total.

Including the guy that won, I have the 4th best total of all time in my division of the IPF and increased my National records for bench and total. Prior to the meet I felt I could do as well as 650kg if all went well, with 620 on the low side. Maybe better luck next year if I'm crazy enough to try this again.

Awesome Skid! Sounds like even though you did great, you are not completely happy with the results. In this case I would advise that the experience itself is more profound than the numbers. Congrats! How is Mongolia?

Thanks Cole, The squat and bench were definitely maxed out for what I could do that day, but I wished I had pushed the deadlift as i felt i left 10+ kilos on the table so to speak. Still, like you say it was a great experience.

Mongolia is something else. One thing that stands out as surprising is how well dressed people are here. Most women are dressed to the nines, all made up with makeup and quite attractive. They are also tall and big for Asians, similar in size to North Americans. No fat slobs dressed in sweats either, all seem pretty slim and fit.

Also no Chinese character type writing. All is Russian Cyrillic language or English which is very helpful. Food is big time meat - beef lamb or chicken. maybe that's why they are as tall as they are.

Lots to talk about, but so far I haven't seen much. Now that I'm done lifting we are going to do some tourist things for the rest of our stay here.

Well done, Marc! It took me a bit to find the right video coverage (the name threw me for a minute), but I was able to watch most of your lifts and quite a few of the others.

No idea on what the jury saw on that last lift. I watched it several times and the depth looked good, although close, which is why 1 red was appropriate. But I didn't see a fail. But apparently they did. The jury was quite active, even overturning failed lifts to white-light them. That was interesting.

Your deadlifts pretty much looked like warmup reps. Sure, your 237.5 was a bit slower, but I agree that you had a lot more in you. All things considered, the coach did make the right call.

Enjoy being a tourist there. It's still on the list. The closest that we've been was sitting in Gimpo (South Korea) and seeing the flight to UB pop up on the screen. My wife and I looked at each other and almost headed to the counter to change tickets, but we needed to get back to the US after being overseas for quite a long time and draining the slush fund.

Congratulations on the outstanding results that you did achieve!

    Thaks Bill!

Well, I spent a week in Istanbul on my way home. Saw the amazing architecture there (Hague Sophia, etc.) and got back late Saturday night. Never did get over my illness and even last night almost vomited in bed

Was supposed to work today, but used a sick day to try to get back into this time zone and eat some of the foods I normally eat. Felt good enough late in the day to do the first workout I've done since competing. Took things real easy...

    Warm up - 500M row

I don't really have a training plan yet, so just did some light work to get my muscles going again.

    SSB squat
    Bar-10
    160-5
270-5,5,5, - Did these all really deep. Felt good

Bulgarian Split squat - First time doing these. Took a bit of getting used to where/how to place my rear foot. Weight felt light
    BW-5 (each side)
    20-5 Used dumbbells for these
    30-5

Bench - Medium grip (between my comp grip and close grip)
    Bar-10
    155-5
    220-5
265-5,5,5, These were harder than anticipated - My bench really falls off fast when I don't train.

    Incline DB press
    40-10
    65-10,10,10, These went easy

    Superset:
    DB curls - 30-10,10,
Ab wheel from knees - 5,5,
    GHR - BW-10,10,
