Either way, I wouldn't just dismiss it.
the few times ive tried sumo i got horrible pec cramps halfway up the lift. in order to adapt to the stress of that specific pull mechanic i would have to deload the weight significantly which wouldnt be a good idea. im on my way up man i promise ill be pulling 500 in 6 months!

    9-21 Mday_wk1

    squat - 315x5x3
    close grip bench - 250x5x3
    RDL - 295x5x3

happy birthday to me, im 34 and still feel pretty good
*squats were easy, felt best when slightly wider stance and grip
*RDLs get my low back good, well have to see if there is carryover to my comp DL

my 3 year old is signed up for wrestling and he is excited, he told me he cant wait to throw kids down!

I get the pec cramp sumo and conv. I think I started hitting PR's after a month or two after transitioning(?)... but it's definitely a different technique and there are many different positions to experiment with. You don't really have any options when pulling conventional. Anyway, good luck, I'm sure you'll crush 500 soon.

I'm jealous of your press and bench dude. Those are some fine numbers, looking forward to see you pull 500 as well!

    9-24 (H)

    Squat - 350x5x5
    Bench Press - 280x5x5
    DL - 405x5

Good session today, 5th rep of DL was an ugly grind. Im not sure im actually getting stronger on the DL or if im just getting more ballsy and allowing myself to grind out tough reps without fear of injury. I know i have more strength than im utilizing on my pulls and squats. im just a timid bitch learning to be more aggressive. anyways, ill take 405x5 bc its a PR and milestone. ill stick to the HLM for a month or two then morph it into a TM once my 5's stall to work on doubles and triples. on another note i had to whap my 10 yr old on his ass with a paddle for the first time ever bc his behavior is horrid lately. to be honest, i dont think that it was a good idea and i dont think it will help.

    TM
    9-31 - volume day

    squat - 355x5x5
    bench press - 282x5x5
    sumo DL - 315x5x3sets

first time ever doing sumo stance on the advice of another lifter and bc it seemed fun and YOLO. from a force production standpoint it seemed to be similar to conv DL but its tough to tell with only 315lb on the bar. anyway they felt alright and its good to change things up but i dont know if the carryover will be there or if i should be doing reg DL at 90%5RM or paused instead to try and drive up intensity day DL.

    starting strength coach development program
    10-3 - recovery day
    bw 230

    high bar squat - 280x5x3
    front squat - 135x8
    press - 172x5x3
    chins - 8,8,8
    back ext - 12,12,12

not a fan of high bar squatting but this week is all about variety and having a little fun. long day at work (11+ hours) also made this one a little sluggish
