Your sqts are inspiring. There are a few posters that keep me coming back to the site.

Well, dunno ... We've both done better when we were younger. But it is endlessly interesting finding out just what we can do with the training effect at our stage in life.

I'm first started lifting weights when I was 13 using a Dan Lurie weight set( I still have the plates dumbbell handles ) and a homemade incline bench. I did this for only 2 or 3 years I didn't start again until my late 30's. Did this till I was 59, then my wife got ill and no desire to train. Started again about 5 years ago. I got a little stronger but basically have just been able to maintain. I do know I'm glad I got back into it because after retiring as an auto mechanic which was at least some sort of physical activity I would have gained weight and gotten weaker.
We have to keep on keeping on.

Yep, we can't gain muscle and strength like the young. But as they calculate us oldies lose 2 % of our power and muscle every year, just maintaining is a 2 % improvement. Oh, yeah, we want more, but WTH!

We have to keep on keeping on.
Damn right Jerry. Our self image, and the way others see us, is of an athlete and warrior. So we aren't about to give that up

That sure is a nice goal. I've been hoping to do a 225lb sqt for some time now. I got discouraged when I looked at my log book from 2015 and saw no progress .

Nice target Gerry. Probably would be good to set it as a goal this year, and move towards it gently. A bigger squat would increase your power in a lot of other things. What do you think about increasing your bodyweight? That would help to get a bigger squat.

It's been 43 degrees centigrade here on the weekend. In fact this State has been the hottest place in the world this weekend. So i have been going to the beach swimming every day. We are 500 m. from what i think is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Feel really good, but i crashed and burned on the olympic deadlift. Maybe too much sun, swim, relax. Maybe the end of easy progress.
