    I don't know if you know of Dr.Ken Leistner, but he was a big proponent of high intensity training.I started following his training method when he wrote in PowerLifting USA.In the mid nineties I was fortunate enough to train his Iron Island Gym. He was big into one set of a lift and no rest between different lifts.He said this built strength. Only when getting ready contest did he drop reps and allow more rest. He said this was to demonstrate strength. Sadly he passed away a few years ago.

    Oh,yes,Jerry. Read huge amounts of his articles, and history, and training, and feats. Very much admire him. Don't think i would like to have trained under him, as he would have kicked my lazy ass.

    Last Saturday my WO went the same way.i had been doing good for a few weeks. I thought I was ready to get a PR for this time of my life.I made sure I was rested, ate well etc.But the bar wouldn't budge

    That's a bugger! Hopefully you'll get it next time.
    Sometimes, after setting a new mark, the body will say, 'that's it, i'm done'. Then you have to take care to not push it into burnout, and months of recovery.
    You're smart enough not to do that.
