    Bodyweight: 197.3

    Last training session before the meet. I'm still a little tired yet the weight moved very rapidly, I'm psyched!

    Meet Recap

    So, the meet was yesterday, in a scale from bad to good, I'd say it was almost-good, let's break it down!

    Squat 3/3
    418
    435
    452 -> 12 lb lifetime PR

    Bench 1/3
    275
    298 -> this would've been a 7 pound meet PR, it went up but I got called for lifting my butt... I don't think I did, but there was no sideview video to contest...
    298 -> had the stupid idea of changing my set-up in between attempts and got stuck near lockout...

    Deadlift 2/3
    463
    490 -> 5 lb meet PR, still 17 lb under my gym PR
    513 -> didn't even budge...

    It as a GPC meet, 24h weight-in, squats were done with a squat bar, monolift, and raw included knee wraps (which I didn't wear). I weighted 196.4 the day before and lifted in the 198 lb class. Bench was as usual. Deadlifts were pulled with a deadlift bar, which I've had never done before. It threw me out of balance and I couldn't start pulling as fast as I'm used to...

    I'm a little bummed with the bench, but all in all it was worth it. Got to go on a road trip with friends, my wife went along to visit her mother and sister, and at least it was a novel experience to lift with specialty bars.

    Strong work all around, with a few learning experiences sprinkled in. All things considered, especially your last sentence, this was a good+ experience.

    re: bench #2 - that's the tough part about these competitions. You just have to take it and roll with it. On the other hand, the judging usually (and I say usually) keeps shenanigans to a minimum.

    Those deadlift bars are definitely a feel that we have to get used to. I've only done one meet, and the first time stepping up and grabbing that whippy thing was quite an experience. If I was looking to compete consistently, it would be worth it to buy one. But for now I'll just deal with it on the rare occasional that I run across one.

    Recover well and keep at it!

    This was my fifth meet, but the first four were under the IPF, so no specialty bars up to now.

    I've seen some weird judging for the bench press, specially in equipped bench, but I guess that's why Rip calls most federations "recreational".

    Thanks, this time I kept a little bit more volume on the last week, in the hopes of getting back to training faster by not losing much of my "training conditioning".
