He then told me that "back in high school"... wait for it... he squatted 1000x3!!!!! He was lucky if he weighed 200-220# too. :-)
So Joseph Pena traveled back in time? Or maybe forward in time...

Yeah, but you have to know when, why, and how to use them.

I looks like the bands were set too low, originating from like at his low back . . . and he has poor elbow flare form .
So he's having to fight the movement of the bar wanting to go towards his feet . . . kinda like doing a forward delt raise AND bench press at the same time.

Yeah, I normally face away from the mirror by moving the hooks to the posts "facing" the platform, but if I want a decent 45 degree view of my rear end, I gotta do it that way.

This one was new to me - guy using the safety squat bar for front squats. The pad was under his chin so that the handles were pointing behind him. He held onto the bar by the pad so that it kinda looked like he was trying to choke himself with the bar.

Traveling for work this week so I managed to get a free guest pass to the local LA Fitness. Wow. It's got all of the madness of your typical globo gym multiplied by South Florida bro. I saw a guy take about 10 selfies of his abzzzz in the bathroom from different angles.

But hey at least they have great respect for the equipment!

It's a power rack, just move the hooks to the other uprights and you're facing the right way.

The rack at my gym has a bolted "ladder" of hooks, they can't be moved.
