So I got this kid (~18 years old) now coming to the gym.
I think he is doing a stronglifts or something similar. (not hating on that)
How he sets the safeties while benching in the squat rack on the other hand makes my soul cringe - ~1 inch above the height of the bench and he has the clips on the bar. He is creating a little box of death for himself.
I definitely have my eye on him in case there is the sudden need to landmine press the stupidity off his chest.
I usually let people go about their business, but this may be too much...
I literally saw a chick pulling on the clips to the cable crossover last night. And it's not like there weren't any available handles, even! They were right on the floor in front of the deal. (Because I'm literally one of maybe three people who put things back at my gym.) She didn't even hang on to the clip properly and allowed her hand to slide to the little yellow ball that keeps the cord from going down through the stack. She was also facing the wrong way and pulling them across in front of her as though she was trying to braid them, but I'm not even expecting much there! I feel like even the morons ought to know how to clip the handles on the ends, though. Even at Planet Flubness I didn't see that sort of crap. (Of course, I didn't see much before they escorted me and my water jug out. What can I say, it was summer in Mississippi?)
Lol, also just saw that yesterday...
A guy doing reverse crossovers (rear delts style) with hands holding onto the cables and jammed against the little balls.
Also saw: the usual bullshit exercise guy doing:
1) inverted bosu ball one legged quarter squats with band stretched between the feet (one leg was in the air, basically stretching the band to keep it from falling.
2) jumping (JUMPING) rear foot elevated spilt squats with dumbbells in each hand
3) jumping (yes, really) sideways box step-ups with a band between elevated foot and across the body on the opposite shoulder....
Saw a guy trying to do some box jumps the other day. He half attempted the 48" box but was about 18" short. Kinda struggled to get one leg up and then get on top of the box. More of a box climb. And these are the steel framed plyo boxes like these: https://www.roguefitness.com/steel-plyoboxes
So then he puts the little 12" box next to the 48" box and gets a running start and launches himself up to the top of the big platform. However, he has so much forward momentum that the platform starts to tip over...right towards the mirrored wall that's about 3' away from this setup. Ends up jumping off the top, shooting the platform back to the ground behind him and landing about an inch from the wall. I think he called it quits after that.
What's with the new trend, sitting backwards in pec dec machine and doing it backwards?
