I have a friends two sons who wants to join us lifting.
We do standard Starting Strength type stuff.

What would you say is the age range you can start truly training teenagers or kids (by that I mean linear gains, not faffing around with low weight high rep stuff - true limit strength and hypertrophy gains).

And what variables would you say you'd look for in deciding if they are ready?

    Thanks in advance

    Sean

Are they old enough to have grown-up stinky armpits? Then they have the right hormones to run SS.

Pre-puberty they can learn the exercises but won't be able to put on muscle fast, so will likely get discouraged.

My son did SS for a while at 14, learned the exercises, and got to a 200lb deadlift (bw 140).
Then he lost interest, but at least he now knows exactly how to get strong.
Someday he'll go back to it I'm sure.
