Hi, is it true that lifters with higher bodyweights need less volume?
I weigh 120kg and find 5x5 work to be too much. My best squat is 182.5kg for 3 reps. Thanks

I think lifters that are highly neurologically efficient need less volume. I haven't seen where bodyweight is a key factor. But yeah, for some of my very gifted naturally explosive athletes I have worked with over the years, I don't use a very high volume of training.

FWIW (it probably has to do with the quality of his athletes) but Sheiko programs typically drop volume for the heavier lifters. His intermediate programs are large (<80 kgs), medium (80 - 105 kg) , and small (105+ kg) "loads", and the volume difference is pretty significant.

Maybe there is a correlation between genetically gifted athletes and althletes with higher body weights in that they are both capable of training with heavier loads.
