Honest question: how do box squats not negatively impact rucking/running while regular squats do?
For me they are easier to recover from than regular squats. Which probably has to do with using less weight than a regular squat. However, it seems to be working for me. I don't ever plan on competing in any strength sport and I can honestly say that my knees, hips, and back feel much better now than they did when I wasn't using the box. I DEFINITELY feel fresher for runs/rucks/range ops/field exercises than when I was squatting without a box.
