Hei, 41 year old male here. Lately I have been reading the book Strength training for life after 40.
I think the Texas method is to grueling for me so I want to train the HLM program.
My question is, is the split routine ( page 265) less stresfull to the body than the normal 3 day version.
Last time I was into Strength training I injured my shoulder pretty bad, so I will be much more careful this time.
« Heavy» 5x5 over head press is not wise month after month, should have read the starting Strength book before My first training, it says 5x5 is to much.

The split routine makes the individual workouts better because your removing a lift from the training session. Overall it still applies a similar weekly stress of a 3 day from my experience.
