    Default Return to starting strength

I’ve been lifting consistently for the past thirty years. The majority of the past ten or so years have been spent with 5/3/1. The last year or so i’ve been messing with conjugate with mixed results and inconsistent strength levels. A month ago I had a partial tear in my Achilles along with a blood clot resulting in a month out of the gym and a drop in strength. I was wanting to return to a simpler program and was wondering if starting over with the SSLP would work or should I go back to 5/3/1?

Any time you come back after a layoff, you should approach with novice programming until you regain enough to get back to where you need to use more advanced programs. It won't take you long to work back up. Be careful of doing too much for the first few workouts since you are no longer conditioned to the work and you'll get terribly sore.

Thanks for the advice. I'll be starting (again) tomorrow.
