intermediate: volume/recovery is confusing
Hi!
I'm getting close to switching to weekly increments/intermediate programming and have therefore begun reading Practical Programming, but the fundamentals confuse me:
If a lifter gets better at tolerating and recovering from a stress the more said lifter is exposed to it, why isn't a 5x5 routine advocated for the lifts on e.g. Mondays and continuing 3x5 for the remaining two training days (SSLP)? By doing that, hasn't volume gone up (an increase in volume is supposedly needed for the intermediate) and thanks to the improved ability to recover made this increase managable?
Am I missing something?

They are explained in the book.
