With these numbers, why are you doing intermediate programming?
Hello,
I am a 31 year old male with the following stats:
6'0, 185 lbs
135/245/260/335
I bought the Andy Baker program bundle and started the 4 Day KSC Texas Method.
Wanted to make sure I am running it correctly in regards to scheduling/assistance.
From FAQ #6:
6. Can I perform this routine on a 4-day Split rather than a 3-day Split?
Yes. I prefer the split to look like this if you do so:
- Monday – Bench Press Intensity + Press Volume
- Tuesday – Squat Intensity + Deadlift Intensity
- Thursday – Bench Press Volume + Dips + Chins
- Friday – Squat Volume + Stiff Leg Deadlifts
All percentages, sets/reps, etc will stay the same
So my Week 1 schedule looks like this? Is this correct?
Mon: Bench Intensity + Press Volume
Bench 2x3
Press 5x5
Tues: Squat Intensity + Deadlift Intensity
Squat 2x3
Deadlift 1x3, 1x5
Wed: Conditioning
Air Bike 20 min
Thur: Bench Volume + Dips + Chins
Bench 5x5
Dips 3-5x8-10
Chins 3-5x8-10
Fri: Squat Volume + SLDL
Squat 5x5
SLDL 5x5
GHR/Abs superset 3x10-20
Curls 3-5x8-10
Sat: Conditioning
Air Bike 20-40 min
Don't want to mess with my gains by adding too much assistance, but feel like I could handle more on Mon/Tues.
3. Should I add more assistance work than this?
If you do, not much more. Perhaps some biceps for cosmetic purposes on Friday, possibly
supersetted with Dips for 3-5 sets of 8-10. Other than that you won’t need much if you are
training hard enough.
So my main questions are:
1. Is the above schedule correct for 4 Day KSC?
2. Is the assistance selection correct for 4 Day KSC?
Thank you,
AU
With these numbers, why are you doing intermediate programming?
Depends where he started. He could gain some weight though. Maybe he stopped making workout to workout progress.
What numbers make you an intermediate?
Just because a genetic freak can squat 800+, doesn’t mean we all can.
Ha. Just ask Tom what he thinks you should do.
Not eating enough and probably not resting long enough between sets.
The primary numbers I'm concerned with are 6' and 185. You didn't do the program.

The harm in doing TM before exhausting all potential strength gains from LP is that you might be leaving strength on the table. Somewhere there is a baby crying in his crib because you thought you were bored with your LP and said screw it, I’ll try Texas Method.
Until you realize that hot babe you met at the bar don’t look so good in the daylight. Yeh she looked real perfect with that makeup on and hair done just so in poor lighting and six beers in you. But when you have to see her in daylight and you’re sober you realize you should have known better.
TM is that siren song calling for you and you just can’t resist it, can you? But TM sounds so sexy you say. Until you realize how bad the volume beats you up. And you didn’t know how long these damn TM workouts would take, ‘cuz you have a life you know. And that you ain’t no 20 year old beast anymore who can stay with TM past two and a half weeks. And that’s when you yearn for the late stage LP, and you are embarrassed when you thought you needed to move on.
