I follow Chase, Bree, some other SS coaches, and most SS gyms on Instagram, and I've never seen shrugs and halting deadlifts being done as assistance exercises. Is it just my impression or these lifts are not being used so often anymore for some reason?

I guess they're out of style right now.

I do haltings every week. I program them for my intermediate lifters. It's a phenomenal exercise.

Consider the fact that most people (from what I've seen) don't post their accessory movements on Instagram.

I've heard a lot of talk in various videos about the halting/rack pull combo for more advanced deadlift training.

I did this on my last mini LP after a layoff as described in the article. Last heavy set of 5 deadlifts was 540 during that run, and did only rack pulls and Haltings for 6 weeks before pulling a 625 deadlift PR.

Didn’t feel beat up doing it either, worked like a charm.
