    Hey everyone!

New member, and just getting into Starting Strength.

    Situation:
    -I have the book
-I own barbells and dumbbells, but no rack or bench
-Will do this in addition to cardio, trying to build strength and lose weight, not really bulk up

    Questions:
-Lack of bench and rack – can I use dumbbells as a substitute for certain exercises?
-This is the program, correct? - Starting Strength Training Programs
    -Any other suggestions?

Yes – I did read the FAQ and perhaps I missed something, and I’m sure this stuff may have been asked/answered before - If there are any recommended posts, or places these questions have been answered, please point them out and I’ll happily read up.

Any helpful info would be great.

Thx so much, looking forward to getting started!

You'll need a rack and bench to do the program. You can get a rack and bench for less than $200 on Amazon, not the highest quality of course but good enough to serve a novice for a few years while you save up for a more expensive one.

    Take the following steps:
    1) buy the book
    2) read the book
    3) do the program described in the book
