I have been running Phase 3 of Texas Method and has been working out fine so far as how my weeks are set. It worked fine for 15 weeks, making PRs every week. I was going to follow Nick Delgadillo Press/Bench setup, but that did not work out for my time in the format he had it. So I decided to make intensity days for those 2 lifts on my Squat and DL volume days. That worked too for a few cycles.
I started to follow a deload cycle on my volume Squat and DL days as seen on some links from Andy Baker with a 75% 5x6, 80% 5x5, 85% 5x4, which is reflected on my information above. That helped me for the last cycle of 3 weeks ending at the PRs I now have.
Here comes the problem...This last Sunday I started my new 3 week cycle with the values above. It happens to be that my intensity day sucked all over. It appears to me that I was still recovering from my last volume session on the Squat and DL or maybe from the past intensity day which gave me my latest PRs.
I am unsure at this point if to lower more the weight or the reps on volume day and redo this last intensity day or if to change the Texas Method Phase 3 week cycle of triple, doubles, singles for intensity. I am hoping to not waste 2 or 3 weeks of training just to find the right balance.
Thanks!
