    I'm 6ft 4in, 256lbs,
    Back Squat 415 3x5
    Deadlift 480 1x5
    Powerclean 270 5x3

Deadlifts are getting pretty hard to finish the last rep but I may just be a pussy so how do I know when to drop down to 1xweek deadlifting?

Currently I am in my NLP and alternating deadlift and power clean every other workout and adding weight on Monday and Friday to my back squat with a light day on Wednesday; 5lb jumps on every lift.

How big of a spread should I have between my deadlift and back squat?

My Plan is to deadlift Monday, Power Snatch Wednesday, and Power Clean Friday when I can no longer simply alternate deadlift and powerclean.

Just as an aside I am a shotput and discus thrower.

Here is what my deadlift workout today looked like if bar speed is of any help as an indication. I pussed out on the 5th rep and got it after 3min rest:

Are you thinking about pushing down, or pulling up?

Pulling up, setting my back as hard as I can and keeping bar close.

Think about pushing down, meaning your feet into the ground.

The video didn't look like you were close to any kind of limit. Given that there probably are still plenty of potential strength gains out there for you, it may make sense to get in the car and head to Chicago for some live input from a Starting Strength coach (highly recommended!).
