Default Do assistance exercises need to be same day as primary lifts?

    Hi everyone,

I include a few assistance exercises in my training routine (mostly alternating between unweighted vs. weighted chin-ups and pull-ups), and I'm wondering if they need to be done the same day as the primary lifts, to produce the "full" strength adaptation benefit. I usually try to do them an hour or two later after my primary lifts are done, but some days, life gets in the way and I have to do the assistance exercises on a separate day. If the assistance exercises are done on a separate day, does that lessen their benefit somehow?

If anyone else has experience with this, I appreciate your input. Thanks!

It probably does not matter, but I would put them on the same day as the primary lift they're assisting. Don't get too crazy with assistance exercises. Keep the focus on the core lifts and focus on their progress as your measurement of success.
