Hello, I am currently doing Texas method and am starting to get close to what I assume will be my 5 rep max plateau. My 5 rep max for bench right now is 255 pounds and my 5 rep max for the press is 165 pounds. I am 5’11 and 201 pounds. I would like to get my press to 205 for 5 reps and my bench to 315 for 5 reps. I know that’s a long way to go but I’m not sure how to change my programming. I was currently listening to a call in to Rip and he said to increase how much you press for example pressing once a week. I’m not sure what that looks like for reps and sets in a week though. Any programming tips would be great! Currently I’m doing press 2x one week and in that same week bench 1x and then the next week bench 2x and press 1x. TIA.

Listen to the first SS Gyms podcast, Nick's pressing programming live stream, and this week's SS Gym's podcast.

But you are not? Then these numbers don't mean anything. Plateaus are not anticipated.

Come back when you are authentically stuck for a week or two. Until then keep increasing weight.

how about a 4 day texas method, bench and press 2 times a week, intensity bench/volume press, then next time intensity press volume bench.

The key to this I'd say is just ensuring you're able to sufficiently recover enough. If you can, then full steam ahead. If not, switch to 2x3 instead of 1x5 and up the weight further. Go from there. You can also change the 5x5 to 8x3 at a higher weight if you really want to push it. All of this is covered in PPFST, which I'd highly recommend reading if just for the chapter on the Texas Method.
