I’m 52 male 5’8” 195. Almost 3 months into NLP. 225 squat, 270 DL, 95 press 125 bench. Have atrophy in right tricep from Cervical Radiculopathy. Squats are getting harder to recover from and wondering if it would be better to do a light squat day on Wednesday or just give myself 48 hours between sessions. I work 9-10 hours days actual labor and get about 7-8 hours sleep.

Then what does this mean? "Squats are getting harder to recover from and wondering if it would be better to do a light squat day on Wednesday or just give myself 48 hours between sessions."

I meant 72 hours was thinking 2 days off not 48 hours. So Mon-Thur-Sun etc. or light squat on Wednesday and keep it M-W-F.

Go lighter on the Wednesday (maybe take 20% off?), see if that affects your recovery for Friday, go from there. I know that when I first began incorporating light days into my squats it was entirely necessary and a small life-saver.

The light squat day is the less disruptive programming change, and so should be made first. 1 on, 2 off is suitable for a short period of time at the very end of novice programming to squeeze the last dregs of linear progression. This is in the Grey Book.

That’s what I was thinking. Did light squat last night gonna see how it goes. Haven’t read the Gray book yet it’s on my list, just Blue and BBRX.
