The general consensus around here will be to drop a lot of your carbs from your diet, and **POOF** your body fat will go down. But I think you know how I feel about that. Calorie reduction maintaining protein intake at appropriate levels FTW.

I was wanting some inside on my diet, let me know if you think and what I should change. Right now I am trying to maintain strength and drop some body fat. I know I will loose a little strength and size, but I want to drop the fat down. Right now I am 200 lbs @ 20%. When I started SS I was 160 lbs @ 8% BF. I think I should cut back on the calories to see any fat loss.

Holy shit, that's a lot of carbs.
So out of the 40lbs you have gained so far, approximately 13lbs has been muscle and 27lbs fat?
Is this the norm for other guys out there? Seems like quite a bit of fat to have gained for only 13lbs. muscle.
There was a thread about this in Rip's Q&A. http://www.startingstrength.com/reso...ad.php?t=13374
No, over half fat gain is usually not normal.
Can i please hijack this thread for discussing diets in general?
Yes? thanks.
I am vegetarian, can have milk and will eat eggs. No meat.
do you guys use the egg beaters(http://www.eggbeaters.com/index.jsp) mix when making your omlettes and scrambled or do you just buy the real eggs? Any experience with the stuff? i just dont want to put some hormone and antibiotic saturated egg whites into my system.
Again, apologies for the hijack. i can make a new thread if needed.
What qualms do have against meat, besides being delicious?
Buy Bill Starr's The Strongest Shall Survive. He turned me on to watching carbs a lot more. I am 5'10" 235# and roughly 20% BF. Since watching carbs and maintaining protien I am 235# and 18% and it has only been 2 weeks.
