Kinda depends what you mean by "visible abs." A rippling 6 pack look, obviously not, but for a big dude with some powerfully built abs, you can probably see some of that even at a bit higher than super lean bodyfat.
I was wondering if any people here have managed to get some visible defined abdominal musculature despite having a powergut™ (like a handful of blubber).
Abs/six pack is not a particular goal of mine, not something I would devote specific time to training unless its for helping with the press. I was just wondering if it was possible to get visible abs with a 15-20% bodyfat. My thighs have a decent layer of fat on them, but I can see each of my individual quads defined if I tense them. I wonder if its the same for abs?

Get your bench up to 300# and nobody will be looking at your abs anymore.
Depends what you mean by "visible", but, no, 15 isn't low enough.
by visible, I mean slightly visible.
Take for example this picture of dave tate:
Apparently he is 18-20% bodyfat in that picture. He looks like less to me, do you think it is accurate?
Would that require lots of specific ab work, or is it the eventuality of getting strong from heavy lifting?
I kinda like fabzors, actually flabzors is a better name.
If anyone cares:
I have more visible abs now (175 lbs and ~18%bf) than when before I started lifting (135 lbs and ~7%bf). The bf figures could be very off, but I sure am fatter now than when I started lifting, but under the correct light I can see my abs without contracting them. I think I have a tendency to store fat inside my gut rather than in the subcutaneous tissue, that might have something to do with it.
