French Press coffee is pretty good. Kinda messy to clean up at the office, though.

I feel like a lazy slob. I drink instant coffee mixed with chocolate protein powder and cold water. I only drink it on work days, which results in a wonderful buzz with the first cup on Monday. As long as it produces that feeling it could "look like muddy water and taste like turpentine" for all I care.

    You gotta drink it black.

Medium-dark. I like the taste of Colombian coffee, personally. There's this flea market a couple miles down the road that has a coffee shop in it. The best coffee I've had and it's like 50 cents a cup.

The top three marketing success stories:
    Diamonds
    Bottled water
    Starbucks coffee.
Okay, I guess the fitness industry has its share of bullshit too (jogging, machines).

The best coffee I've had was in Spain. Serious espresso machines and skilled baristas.

Gave up a very serious caffeine habit due to chronic insomnia.

Whats the best way to roast your beans without buying a dedicated roaster? Stick them on a skillet? I'm going to try a sampler from SweetMarias and see how it works out. If I like it (which I'm sure I will) I will get a dedicated roaster.

Also, once the beans are roasted, is it ok to just use them in a regular old coffee maker?

I did one batch with a dry skillet. Just keep tossing them or moving them around. Bed, Bath, and Beyond has a Whirlypop which works fine for around 20$. See here.

Do read up the data on roasting on the Sweet Maria's website. You need to get the hang of their terminology, and the sound cues to tell you how well roasted they are. My first batch was a bit underroasted, but still good.

You can use the beans as you would use any whole beans. You'll need to grind them, of course.
