This was a fairly recent additionr. You also cannot swear and yell etc..
I was just reading the IPF rules and this one caught my eye:
14. It is forbidden to whip and smash the lifter in front of the audience and media.

I feel a lot better about signing up for one of these now, knowing I cannot be whipped or smashed in front of the audience or media.
Sort of begs the question, can you be whipped and smashed otherwise?
I guess I'd rather see:
14. It is forbidden to whip and smash the lifter.
Full stop.

Believe it or not, these rules are enough to make some people hate the IPF.
Technically, I think you can whip or smash the lifters, just not both.
Why does this upset you?
I think this means you can't try to psych your buddy up for his lift by screaming cusses at him and smacking him on the back of the head in front of crowds of tens of people.
It's okay to do that in the NFL in front of millions, though.
I was disappointed when I found that the USPA would disqualify me for headbutting the bar before I squat. What if it attacks me?
Personally I think all in attendance should be whipped and smashed unmercifully.
