I feel I have improved my deadlift enough to need a form check.
This is my first time using a thumb hook grip and it definitely improved my grip problem but felt like I was going to tear my thumb nails off, is this normal? Haha.

I also am bouncing the bar off the floor a bit more in this video than my last day and want to know if it is excessive or if I should actually be pausing.
Thanks so much this site is great.

Sorry for the lack of lighting I wasn't planning on submitting and will fix for next time.

You should, indeed, be pausing and pulling the bar from a dead stop. This will make it harder. It will also build character. Narrow your stance. Find a spot about 15 feet ahead on the floor to look at the whole time. Go through the deadlift setup steps outlined in the sticky for every rep. Hook grip can be uncomfortable to start. It will get better, but it will never feel great. Nothing about deadlifts feels great.
