Congestive Heart Failure
Hi,
Finally, my dad (72), has opened up to the idea of strength training. I'd love to support him with this but, Unfortunately, he's not in the best of shape. His primary issue is congestive heart failure, though there is a history of TIA (which he's recovered from).
In general, is strength training with heart failure simply out of the question or can it be attempted conservatively? (apologies if this has been answered before - I couldn't seem to find anything on the forum).

We need some more information:
1. What is the etiology (cause) of the heart failure? Ischemic, hypertensive, valvular, restrictive...?
2. How advanced is his heart failure?
3. What is his current exercise tolerance?
4. Does he suffer from syncope (faints, drop attacks)?
5. Has his doctor cleared him for physical activity?
