whats the best cheap way to train grip strength? the CoC grippers are highly recommended but they are fairly expensive and im a cheapskate, are there any alternative methods that use regular gym equipment? just holding onto a heavy bar until it falls didnt work very much for me

    thanks in advance

Grip strenght has many facettes. Better than statically holding a heavy bar is doing the farmers walk with dumbbells . Pinching a plate between thumb and fingers strenghtens other aspects of your trip strenght. Working out with a sandbag also. Thick grips too.

A cheap but valuable gripper option is the woody gripper which is adjustable
If you prefer CoC style grippers there are knock offs at Amazon called heavy grips

Get your deadlift up to 505. Your grip will grow stronger. But you're right, it's harder that way.

for a lot of people grip strength is the limiting factor for deadlifts, hence the need to isolate it. the question in the OP was asking for optimal methods of training the grip besides costly grippers, sorry if that wasnt clear.

If grip strength is the limiting factor why don't they just use a hook grip?

    The world may never know.

Or, why do the simple thing when the complex thing allows you to clutter your house with gadgets?

The question was answered with the proper answer. Ultimately the solution is hard work ...not something that can be made or purchased.
