Mark Rippetoe talks about the different kinds of belts you should be using and Chase demonstrates how to use the power rack to put the belt on.

Something that seems simple on face value.

Is tightness of belt a matter of preference, or is tighter better? Just asking since I tighten mine so as I can squeeze myself against it, but no where near as tight as Chase sets it in this vid.

I would be interested in reading the T-Nation article Rip mentions. I haven’t found it yet. Anybody have the link?

Tighter mid-section is better. Practically-speaking, what happens over time is that you get better at using the belt and using it tighter as well. There is a point where it is too tight. Experience also helps with knowing where this is.

As dumb as it sounds I could never figure out how you guys used the rack to put on your belt, and in turn I always had to do it by hand. This helped. Thanks,

Thanks, Stef. I'm going to try 'one hole' tighter next workout until i end up like a corsetted baroque lady of the night with a 20" waist somewhere down the road.
