    Default English Filter

    • starting strength seminar april 2024

Hi, I'd like to suggest adding an English filter to the articles on the website. It would make life much easier while browsing through the archives.

    Thank you!

I suppose that is right. Another way to look at it is as a feedback that may improve user experience and perhaps retention to the website...

Maybe you could design it so it filters out the word “whilst” as well, and apply it to the forums.

But, the articles are already written in English.

When you display all articles, translations to other languages are also on display. You can filter by topic, such as "Lifts" and "Coaching", or by language, "german", etc., but you cannot browse through all articles that are written in english only, and end up having to skip through tons of translations that you don't understand.

I don't think that's his idea. Right now, all articles in all languages are in the archive. An English filter would remove non-English articles from the list displayed. The side bar already has spanish, german, etc filters for non-english readers.

If you don't want to do this manually, just use python to crawl "https://startingstrength.com/article" with the ISENGLISH() function on the meta-description to filter. All of the non-english articles have non-english descriptions. If that sounds like a lot of work, then you should just skip over the articles that aren't English when you scroll.

I thought I was the only one missing something here.

I thought it might be a typo, for English Lifter.
