We're going to get a series of posters printed for your home gyms that feature Rippetoe quotes. What quotes do you guys want to see? Post your suggestions.

No need to suggest "strong people are harder to kill......"

T-Nation's forum posted a collection I always come back to.

Mark Rippetoe Quotes - Off Topic - Forums - T Nation

My choice: "There are few things graven in stone, except that you have to squat or you're a pussy."

Runner-up: On the ethics of meat-eating "Okay, have you ever been around chickens? They are stupid, uncooperative, inconvenient, ill-tempered creatures. They get what they deserve. Fuck chickens."

I finally started writing down Rip’s one-liners. Here is what I have so far, mostly from late dinners after a seminar, in whatever city we happen to be in:

They don’t like us and it’s not our fault and if it is our fault, we don’t care.

Powerlifting is a trailer park sport

You said something that doesn’t make sense. Yoga people.... think. Yoga people don’t think, they just know.

The best way to get confident in yourself is to give yourself hard things to achieve, and to achieve them

Marathons are not good for you. The first man that did one fell over dead.

Type II diabetes is also known as glucose poisoning.

    Keep that in mind.

    Complexity appeals to stupid people.

    There’s no romance in simplicity.

I hate that’s the way that it is, but that’s the truth.

    Leave people the fuck alone.

Vietnam was a real fucked up situation.

    Fuck those people.

Do you want to stay married? Don’t coach your wife.

I like my wine foot powder dry.

Driving a Prius is like having a real ugly, dependable girlfriend.

You can make chili out of shoes if you grate it fine enough.

Also, here are some of my favorites from the books - some of these are printed on the walls of the gyms:

The deadlift also serves as a way to train the mind to do things that are hard

Humans are not physically normal in the absence of hard physical effort

Pressing the barbell overhead is still the most useful upper body exercise in the weight room

Physical strength is the most important thing in life. This is true whether we want it to be or not

There is never an absolute answer to everything, except of course that you have to do your squats

If word count is not a relevant consideration, how about the famous Paul Horn post here, to someone that expressed fear about their next squat workout?

Awesome, thanks for sharing. Can't wait for those generated by Starting Strength. They will be a nice addition to the garage in "these trying times."

    I always liked this one:

Mark, how much can you half squat? As much as I can walk out of the rack with. But that would be the last time I used my knees, so I don't do half squats.

I laughed when I read his response to question 3 at this post.

Sets of 4 reps are illegal.
