    Friends,

After two months’ break from a 3 year period of 3-4pw 5x5 training, due to gym closure, I find the SQ and the DL unexpectedly uncomfortable cardio wise.

With working sets at about 60% of the weights I used did prior to lockdown to be safe, and what still feels like warmup weights, I find that my HR spikes to highly uncomfortable levels after just 1-2 SQ or DL working sets, causing me to quit the sessions.

Upper body exercises and cardio are fine.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Ideas around how to come around it?

    Thank you.

    Best wishes,
    Karl.

We're sorry that you're uncomfortable. Maybe this is too hard.

Cardio returns eventually. I felt less conditioned after a recent layoff, along with some shortness of breath.

Trained through it. Now feel like I did before the layoff. I never monitor my heart-rate, so perhaps that ignorance helped.

Just a dude, not a doctor.
