Default Hook grip slipping out of thumbs on heavier deadlifts

I’m new to the program and managed to get my deadlift to 265 1x5 with just double over hand. Once I go up to 275 I end up having grip issues. I decided to swap to hook grip for the past 2 sessions but on the 4th rep of my deadlifts it ended up slipping out of my thumbs on both sessions. Any suggestions to solve this problem?

Can you post a video of how you hook grip? If you double overhanded 265lb, but are having trouble holding a hook grip with 275lb, I would think it's a technique issue.

You just need more practice hook gripping I would do a small reset to make sure you can hit all 5 reps with hook, and continue the LP.

I had the same issue at first and the first answer is chalk.
The second answer is this: Rip: The Start Position in the Deadlift

My hands get incredibly sweaty. Sometimes I'll dip out after the 3rd rep if I feel my hands getting lose, rechalk, and that usually solves it for me.

I figure it's better to do a broken set and drive my numbers up than to plateau because my sweat glands are a little over-active.

You're using chalk, right? Make sure you chalk the entire thumb thoroughly when you do.

It does take a bit of practice. Are you using chalk? Does your bar have decent knurling on it? Can you get your fingers far enough around the bar so that your thumb is in contact with your middle finger?

Makes it sound like you are trying to actually hold the bar with your thumbs?

Short fingers? Maybe this applies to you?
