I guess some futher information would be good here (height, wheight, and the numbers you lift).
How can a lift be „lagging“ after just 3 weeks anyway?
In the past 3 weeks, i've began implementing the NLP properly with good success.
However, in relation to my other lifts i believe my Press is lagging, and therefore i would like to bring it up somewhat. I remember Rip stating that to make a concerted effort to raise one's Press, an increase of Press training frequency to 4x per week and no less would be necessary.
I am going through the Practical Programming book, and i'm still in the Novice section, but looking through i cannot see this issue addressed in the book.
May i ask:
1. Is it wise to bring this increased Press frequency into the NLP, or would the other lifts be affected by it? So, is it really an intermediate thing?
2. If it can indeed be implemented as an addendum to the NLP, what would each of the 4 Press sessions look like? A light day? A pin-Press day? A 5x3 day?
Thanks in advance, gentlemen.
Troy

You shouldn't need significant programming modifications by 3 weeks. Something is off...

For almost everyone the press is a real pain in the ass to progress on for obvious reasons. At this point in your programming I would just continue as planned. Way too soon to make adjustments yet. Just my opinion.
Sorry, i shoUld have clarified.
Firstly, i'm 37, 178lbs 5'9". I'm not a total Novice. I've have several years experience with lifting, on and off, very inconsistent, too much 'exercise', not enough training. iIve made many mistakes and taken many wrong turns.
Where i am atm on the NLP. All for 5 reps:
Squat: 237lbs
DL: 275 lbs
Press: 127lbs
Bench: 215lbs
Since i started the NLP, it's been going swimmingly. See here for details if necessary: Should I Begin Starting Strength Now?
If things are going swimmingly, then no need to change anything.
