How to Make British Navy Grog | Mark Rippetoe
Rip teaches you how to make a refreshing classic cocktail - perhaps the first mixed drink - used by the British Navy up until 1970.

This is all interesting Mark, however you are using filtered water and to be authentic with grog you need to get the water from your dam and use it instead of your tank water, you know to be authentic and all or just leave out the Rum, which as you say is only for sterilizing.
Was it not some British admiral that ordered the Rum to be watered down and the is where grog came from?
I think it was Captain Cook who incidentally found Australia drifting around here in the Southern ocean as the discoverer of a prevention for scurvy. Fortunately for us he came and established a British foothold here otherwise we be speaking Dutch or Spanish.
