I am always amazed how engineers instinctively adopt the SS program once they see the book. ( I am an engineer)
Like Andrew, SS 3rd Ed. felt like a college engineering textbook to me. And I knew the mechanics were sound once I saw the moment diagrams and Rip's explanations of the 'why".

I too have felt the backlash of coaching the girlfriend. You walk a fine line when you speak to your gf/wife in a coaching tone.

I’ve taken a similar approach with my studying, although i should have completed the coaching prep course (which is tremendously helpful) before attending the seminar and attempting the platform test. I rushed things a bit and underestimated how busy i would get during lockdowns. The SSC certification is no easy task and a coach should be well prepared before opting in.

You may have mentioned this, but did you pass or fail your first attempt at the platform test?

I failed the first three platform tests I attempted.

I am a mechanical engineer and had the same experience. After years of being befuddled by the complex workouts prescribed by the Athlean X's of the world, I found SS and was immediately wowed "this is so simple and obvious, why doesn't everyone just explain it like this!?"

Then I ran around trying to show it to my non-engineer friends and family members and annoying them greatly with my obsession over optimum efficiency and form... turns out force diagrams don't magically appear in everyone's heads like they tend to for engineers... But it made perfect sense to me.

The complaint I get the most when I try to share SS:BBT with people is "it's so long and dry." It requires a lot more leg work for non-physics people. Even with Rip's explanations, it requires thinking, rereading, more thinking - it's tough stuff.

A few people have told me "I would have just given up after the second failure." I appreciate that as a compliment, but my determination has certainly caused me to waste time where I should have cut my losses. I suppose that's normal though.
