    Hi Rip, I’ve read pg 59 of blue book but I’m still not quite clear on this point.
    On the final reps say on heavy squats I’ll tend to vocalize/grunt towards the end in order to lockout. Is that a bad thing ? ie isn’t that releasing some valsalva , hence tightness, at highest stress point in the lift. If I try to not do that however, I feel like I might pass out or something.

    Are you doing the valsalva with your mouth open, as we recommend?

    Vocalizing in short grunts is not losing pressure, unless you just exhale all the way.
