Default Freaking myself out about breathing while lifting

Now I am a healthy male 26 years old and I have perfect blood pressure.
My issue is my mother in law is a physician and mentioned she has a patient that is recovering from a stroke and the hospital stated it was likely from weight lifting. (She doesn’t agree or disagree with the cause of injury because she said she can’t say wether he was predisposed abs it would have happened watching t.v. Or not)

I didn’t think much of it and then I got home and saw YouTube recommended the starting strength video on the valsalva maneuver and it’s gotten my mind running wild.

If been reading articles about it but I’m honestly just freaking myself out. Someone talk some sense into me.

This isn’t something to worry about is it? All I’ve gathered from reading articles is ur blood pressure shoots up when u hold ur breath and lift and that doesn’t sound great…

No, FreakedOut, it would be bad if your body failed to regulate blood pressure and increase it to match the demand. That is what is required, needed, normal, appropriate, and safe.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother in law.
