This is one of the best podcasts I’ve heard in relation to the etiology of cardiovascular disease. I’ve been an (unspecified) healthcare provider for 15 years and have personally witnessed the continuous moving of goal posts to keep people consuming pharmaceuticals along with the gross misrepresentation of research data to fit a narrative. Modern medicine in America has also been removing thinking and clinical reasoning, of all things, from the clinical process for years, especially at the primary care level. It’s become an algorithm-based process. A person comes in with high blood pressure and the algorithm tells you to do step 1, if that doesn’t work, move to step 2 and so on. This is why you also will see studies that tell you nurse practitioners have equivalent outcomes to physicians, they all follow the same algorithm, but the study won’t tell you that! But the truth is, you could throw your engineer brother-in-law who knows how to read an algorithm in to treat a primary care patient, and he would have similar outcomes too! The whole system is messed up on so many levels, and everyone should listen to this episode because it exposes a small fraction of an ocean of truth.
